Spirit of Rimini

The City Where It All Began

All year long, the Port of Rimini is bustling with tourists

Since its founding, bimota has been headquartered in Rimini, a city overlooking the shimmering Adriatic Sea. Located in the Emilia-Romagna region, Rimini sits within an area renowned for its concentration of prestigious brands, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Maserati, as well as numerous motorcycle manufacturers. Born in Rimini, at the eastern edge of this region, bimota has developed its unique brand value, shaped by the land’s character and history.

Blessed with a mild climate throughout the year, Rimini is known as one of Italy’s premier seaside resorts, where long stretches of coastline are lined with beach umbrellas in the summer.

At the same time, the city retains numerous structures dating back to ancient Roman times, reflecting a deep-rooted history and enduring tradition.

In more recent history, Rimini is also known as the birthplace of Federico Fellini, the film director often described as a “magician of cinema,” highlighting the city’s spirit of cultural innovation.

Bathed in sunlight, enriched by tradition, and driven by creativity, Rimini embodies a unique blend of openness and innovation. This environment has long been closely tied to a strong motorcycle culture.

A defining symbol of this connection is the “Temporada Romagnola,” a prestigious public road race that was held from 1945 to 1971. Staged across Rimini and its surrounding coastal roads, the event grew into a major festival that engaged the entire city. The excitement of spectators, combined with the hospitality of local residents, helped embed motorcycle culture deeply into the region.

Even today, off-road events are held annually on Rimini’s beach, attracting participants of all ages. In addition, several circuits are located in and around the city, including the Misano World Circuit, which hosts MotoGP and WorldSBK races.

Against this backdrop, it is often said that more children in the Rimini area dream of becoming professional motorcycle racers than football players. Indeed, the region has produced numerous riders who have gone on to compete in world championships such as MotoGP and WorldSBK.

In 1972, a young man from Rimini experienced a crash at the Misano circuit, prompting him to design and build his own original frame. From this moment, bimota began its journey as a motorcycle manufacturer. Considering the character of this city, this was not a coincidence, but a natural progression.

Today, under the same sun that has long defined this region, bimota continues to create innovative motorcycles in Rimini, blending traditional Italian craftsmanship with forward-thinking ideas.

As part of this continuing story, the KB998 Rimini—competing in WorldSBK—bears the name of the city where it all began, a name granted by the city of Rimini in recognition of bimota’s legacy and achievements.
